Lady Bullseye
Having read the first three parts in the Lady Bullseye storyline, I thought I would mention that this is a solid storyline that gives fans of Daredevil what they want: femme fatales, complex plots, Matt Murdock looking for inner peace, and lots of martial arts fighting. Daredevil is a character that seems to always be on the verge of slipping into a deep depression, yet he manages to hold on to his sanity. Then, along comes another psycho villain. What makes life more complicated for Daredevil is they know he’s Matt Murdock and they don’t even remotely restrain themselves from going after his family. And, yes, all those Daredevil villains are pretty psychotic….
Even though she has only been around for three issues, Lady Bullseye is shaping up to be a quality Daredevil villain. She is an evil assassin that truly serves no one but herself. And, for whatever reason, she has a pathological hatred of Daredevil. Is the hatred borrowed from her icon Bullseye or is there some other reason for it? We’ll find out in time.
In a way, Lady Bullseye is the character Daredevil should
fear most. Mainly this is because Daredevil tops the list of comic book
superheroes that are a disaster with women. This is one of the more humorous
aspects of the Daredevil character – he is tough, confident, ripped to shreds,
has integrity, never gives up, yet fails time and time again with women. It’s
never his fault, of course. It’s always some external factor. Actually, it is
fault. He screws things up for himself time and time again. At one time, the
Daredevil costume was the persona Matt Murdock used to hide his pain over being
teased as a child and to hide the pain of the death of his father. Now, he uses
the costume to hide from the fact that he eventually drives every woman in his
life out of it. That is why Lady Bullseye is such a cruel mistress. She knows
his weakness. He is looking for a woman to take the pain away. (A common trait
among nerds that never works and always leads to more pain) Well, she has pain.
Lots of it and it comes in the form of edged weapons. Daredevil comics need an
engaging villain and they found it in Lady Bullseye.
