Turning the clock all the way back to the Golden Age, it is time to feature one of the most memorable comic book covers in history. That cover would be, of course, Action Comics #1 which featured the debut of Superman. The cover was quit thrilling for its time as it featured a larger than life guy in a cape picking up an automobile over his head. This was a radical departure from most “average” heroes of the day. Then again, Superman wasn’t average….he was super. By adding the element of picking the car up and over his head, potential readers (kids, obviously) caught a glimpse of a heroic demi-god that was a lot different from what they were used to reading in the pages of comic books. And, by the way, get a look at the face of the guy gasping in horror. It seems the sight of Superman does not exactly sit all that well with him….
