Suckerman!

Suckerman was one heck of an obtuse toy. While he was designed to look like a vampiric devil monster, the toy commercials promoted him as a superhero. He had unique powers. You threw him at a wall and he stuck to it. (Sometimes) What does Suckerman have to do with comic books? Well, there were a number of “superhero” toys that did not originate from a comic book. Sure, they were inspired by comic book heroes but they didn’t have their own books and they faded from toy store shelves in a relatively short period of time. Truth be told, Suckerman was not all that bad of a toy. Sure, he was limited. You threw him against something and he either stuck or he didn’t. Since he was made of rubber, he didn’t break when you threw him.

OK, let’s recap the value of Suckerman for those that missed it:

1.) You could throw him against things and he wouldn’t break.
2.) He sometimes stuck to objects and sometimes didn’t.
3.) He looked evil.

And after nearly 30 years, we are still talking about the legend that is Suckerman, one of the oddest toys of the late 1970s/early 1980s.

And, yes, he could GLOW IN THE DARK!
