Without a doubt, the 1982 – 1983 Incredible Hulk cartoon was one of the best of all the superhero television cartoon. It was much better than the Spiderman and his Amazing Friends series which was the precursor to the return of the Hulk to animated TV airwaves. (That is not to say that the Spiderman series wasn’t any good. Actually, it was quite an excellent series as well although a little “wimpy” compared to other incarnations of the hero) The story lines in this series were very well written and did not seek to insult the intelligence of its viewers. This proved to be the main reason why the Hulk cartoon developed such a strong cult following. Which was a better Hulk cartoon? The 1982-83 series or the one that popped up in the 1990’s on Fox? Well, I would say the first season of the Fox series was better but the second season was a disaster. That would place the 1980’s series in the middle. It does still stand up well to this very day and, hopefully, it will see a DVD release one day soon.
