Some random notes
Just some random thoughts that I have come up with after a week of (attempting) to catch up on my reading….
Are we suffering from a bit of Punisher overkill? (No pun intended) I know he has a movie out (that bombed) but is there any reason to give him so many books and guests appearances?
The Ultimate Universe has started to really pick up steam after a lengthy lull in interesting stories.
The Batman RIP storyline and the recent Final Crisis limited series have returned DC to its excellent storytelling days after having fallen off the rails for over a year.
Booster Gold still remains one of my favorite “old school” style comic heroes. Ditto to Marvel’s “all ages” books are a lot of fun to read. The simple storyline remind me of the early days of Marvel Superheroes. I had been missing the old school style of storytelling and it is nice to see a few books out there that still capture that nostalgic feeling. I would assume the popularity of the movies with little kids has drawn a number of them back into the comic book reading fold.
The new Spiderman animated series is another in a long line of excellent Spiderman animated cartoons. I am not a big fan of the anime look since it doesn’t gel well with superhero action but they are going for a young audience so why not?
I can’t see signs that the recession has hit the comic industry yet but I am pretty sure that it will eventually be forthcoming.
