I was never a huge fan of the Superfriends television series mainly because of how wimpy it was. The opening, however, was Super Cool. In particular, the "wooooo--woooooo-wooooo" sound Aquaman's head makes is pure art. Really, I cannot fault the producers of the program for making a wimpy hero how mainly because pressure was placed on them to tone down the heroic aspects of the heroes. The old canard about children's programming promoting violence was drudged up and the derogatory term "Weirdo Superheroes" was used to brand the programs. Such foolish pressure from phony parents groups led to dramatically reducing the cartoon violence that was common in the 1960's. The shows were not all that bad in the 1970's. They were, however, presented in a seriously emasculated form that had most kids cringing at the dopier and wimpier moments. Once again, I will say that the opening of the program was excellent....as was the case with many animated hero programs. ===========================================================================================
