I have been investing quite a bit of space on reviewing a few of the old animated television programs of the past. I thought I would look at some of the live action ones as well. I figured I would begin with the Flash mainly because it has become such a forgotten show. It debuted in 1990 and quickly disappeared from the airwaves after one season. Today, the program would have probably lasted several seasons since superheroes are in vogue. But, The Flash made its debut at the wrong time. The superhero renaissance had yet to begin. Well, it did begin with the Batman films but the launch of an overall new genre was still a decade away.

The show was not a campy one nor did it treat its subject matter with contempt. It was a well thought out hero program that had solid scripts, interesting characters, and a "what will happen this week" type feel to it. In a way, it reminded me of Fox's short lived and excellent series Werewolf - also a program that debuted at the wrong time as the horror genre was on its back.

The Flash is somewhat of an odd character because the ability to run fast kind of pales in comparison to the coolness factor other heroes embody. (Of course, the quality of writing in the monthly comic is off the charts so that helps) For those of you feeling a little nostalgic, here is the open to that classic live action series.....
