Tomb of Dracula Magazine

It only lasted 6 issues but TOMB OF DRACULA MAGAZINE was an excellent Marvel horror comic that continued the tales of the comic book of the same title. Contrary to popular belief, the comic TOMB OF DRACULA was not canceled. Instead, it was discontinued to shift to its original intended version. TOMB was not supposed to be a monthly comic. It was supposed to be a black and white adult oriented magazine. However, this concept was scrapped and the monthly comic was launched instead. In a way, this was a good thing because the BW mags DRACULA LIVES and VAMPIRE TALES only lasted short runs while the excellent TOMB OF DRACULA comic outlived all the Marvel horror comics of the 1970s. Then, the switched to the the monthly magazine format and it was curtains as the magazine died a quick death. But why? Namely, black and white magazine distribution was much spottier in those days so kids looking at the shelves of the local 7-11 wouldn't find a copy of the magazine. And, if they did....it was way too expensive for them. I really don't want to knock Marvel for trying to promote adult themed magazines since the book were generally quite good. However, it was obvious that after time and time again other than SAVAGE SWORD OF CONAN Marvel couldn't move a magazine comic. I take that back...CRAZY sold for about a decade before its demise...
