Without a doubt, Mysterio remains one of the goofier Spiderman villians. Oh, the concept of Mysterio was a good one. He was a nutty stuntman and special effects guy who went "bad" and turned to crime. He would then use his special effects "powers" to get one up on the Amazing Spiderman. However, he looked pretty darn dopey doing it. Without a doubt, the costume he wore was one of the sillier ones ever devised. What were Stan Lee and Steve Ditko thinking of when thet crafted it? Maybe they were thinking of writing an excellent plot because the debut appearance of Mysterio was pretty good for its time. I picked up the Marvel Tales reprint from 7-11 way back in the day and have fond memories trudging through the snow to get it!

And speaking of fond memories, we can continue out look at the old Spiderman series by checking out The Menace of Mysterio. What I really enjoyed about the TV presentation of Mysterio was how creepy and menacing they made him. This helped overcome the silliness of the character and truly made him a frightening villian....
