Now how could I possibly mention the Man-Thing without mentioning the brilliant Power Records presentation of "Night of the Laughing Dead." This book and record originally appeared as a two part story in Man-Thing comics. It was re-edited into a single volume with much fo the story cut out and re-written. Suprisingly, this edit job IMPROVED the story. And, oh. what a story it was. There is NO WAY a story this shocking and disturbing could ever be released on the kid's market today. Yet, in 1974, it was considered fine material for 11 year olds. In a way, it reminds me of the garish Brothers Grimm stories that have been toned down over the years. But, did the Brothers Grimm ever write a tale so obsessively morbid as the obtuse tale of a suicidal clown? Here is part one of MAN THING - NIGHT OF THE LAUGHING DEAD.
