Monster on the Campus

No, it ain't a comic book but it should be.... Monster on the Campus remains one of my favorite B-Horror movies. The plot is dopey. Some professor shoots himself up with a formula made from a prehistoric fish. This turns him into an Ape Man and he goes on a rampage. Yeah, that's it. But, it was a cool horror film brought to us from the creator of the Creature from the Black Lagoon, Jack Arnold.

Horror films had been D-E-A-D for most of the 1950's, but the release of the old Universal Horror films lead to the return of the genre to theaters. Of course, this would help spawn the birth of Famous Monsters of Filmland and the whole Warren Publishing line. Which, in turn, would lead to the Marvel Horror boom of the 1970s.

Monster on the Campus is mainly a forgotten B-Movie, but it is a lot of fun. Check out the brief scene with the hatchet. Truly shockign stuff for 1958!
