Daredevil 116 Return of the King
Yes, the Kingpin of Crime has changed a great deal over the past 45 years. Fans of old school Marvel probably remember the old, cartoonish version of the character. He was bulbous, flabby, and dressed in his trademark white shirt and purple pants. And does anyone else remember the gimmick of the cane that fired laser bolts?
The new Kingpin is one that remains one of the more intriguing characters in Marvel Comics. Yes, Wilson Fisk had be revamped well over a decade ago so his "new" character is not all that new. However, the character is multifaceted enough that he never becomes dull or boring when he is borught into a storyline. Of course, a character remains interesting until overexposure takes all the edge off. That's one reason why the Kingpin has been in exile in the Daredevil series. Now, the Kingpin has returned and it appears the storyline will have the Kingpin teaming with Daredevil to battle Lady Bullseye and the hand.
Daredevil 116 is the prologue to this storyline entitled Return of the King. However, it is much more than a mere prologue to a new story arc. It provides us with a truly unique insight into the character of The Kingpin.
