Ultimate Hulk vs. Wolverine #3
It may have taken quite a while, but the 3rd issue of Ultimate Hulk vs. Wolverine has finally debuted on comic book retail stores. Was it worth the wait? Yes, it was. It turns out this is one of the few books that actually lives up to its hype.
What makes this third installment enjoyable is the parallels that are drawn between the rage and anger of The Hulk and the rage and anger of Wolverine. In a few curt words, The Hulk basically forgives Wolverine for his assassination attempt because he understands much of Wolverine’s rage is the result of his own, weak attempts at compensating for his own self-loathing. The Hulk clearly self-identifies with Wolverine’s psychological predicament and leaves the door open to Wolverine to walk away. Of course, Wolverine doesn’t do this and ends up the worse because of it.
The ending of the book is a “shock ending” that was leaked months ago. For those that are not aware of the ending, I won’t reveal it here other than to say that the issue ends with the debut of a new Ultimate Universe superhero. Of course, you now need to buy the book to found out who it is…….
