Friday the 13 Remake Brief Review
I am only adding this here because I did invest a little time on this remake prior to its official release. I had some high hopes for the film since it would be a serious and not campy remake. While it is serious (and the first non-campy Friday the 13th film since Par V) the film goes off the rails within minutes. Yes, it is good to see Jason portrayed in a frightening manner but it would have been better to see him in a film that actually had a plot. I know, the original Friday films were plotless and that was too their detriment. When they did try to shake things up we started to get some really idiotic and nonsensical films. However, this remake (which is actually a remake of Friday the 13th Part II) has VERY little going for it other than one kill scene after the other until the end. And ending, BTW, that borrows quite a bit from Rob Zombies HOUSE OF1000 CORPSES.
Bottom line - You have seen it all before and the producers missed a golden opportunity to redefine a classic horror icon.
