Kolchak - In Real and Comics
Since I plugged Moonstone's Kolchak Annual in my last post, I figured I would add a little tribute to the character. The following is a classic still from what appears to be the pilot movie. I don't think I was from the vampire series episode but I could be wrong. I am leaning to believe that this is from the pilot because the Kolchak character has a more serious look on his face. In the television series, the character became a little sillier and more humorous. I would think they did this to take the edge of the monster mayhem that was commonplace in the program.

Here is a cool artist's rendition of Mr. Karl Kolchak. I like the way the character is presented here because it captures the facial expressions and body language in a manner that is almost identical to the way Darren McGavin played the character in the series. Actually, this depiction may be a littler more serious in tone than the series but it does chapter the character quite well.
