I know what you are saying. How can I be so lame that I am presented the origin of a character that everybody already knows. Seriously, who hasn't heard the origin of Superman. Well, you may have heard the origin before....but did you ever see and hear the classic origin as presented by the good folks at Power Records? The material presented on this particular Power Records release was originally drawn and written in the 1970s. Now, why would anyone release a “re-write” of a classic origin tale that everyone already knows? Basically, times and tastes change and so does the type of writing one can expect to find in a comic book. The original 1930s narrative in which Superman first appeared was written in a style that was primitive by 1950s standards. As such, an origin will need to be re-written and presented in a new light every so many years. Such was the case with all major heroes – even popular ones such as Superman. What is very interesting about this process is how we can see cultural aspects of the era in the re-imagining of the origin.
