Folks, as much as I wish otherwise, the fact of the matter is that the recession has impacted A PHD IN COMIC BOOKS. No, this does not mean I am shutting down the blog. The problem is that I have been working a tremendous amount of hours lately in order to make up for some of the ebbs and flows in my personal business. That means I have less time to write and it also means – sadly – I have less money for purchasing comic books.

However, I do have a huge collection of trade paperbacks that I have amassed over the past years. A huge chunk of these books are sitting in a couple boxes in my closet. A few of them were only read once and stored away. Some of them are old favorites that I may not have looked at in a few years. Either way, I do have A LOT of older material I can pick out and review for the site. No, this does not mean I will be abandoning covering some of the newer books. It is just that I may have to cut back on new book reviews for the short term.

I also want to invest a little more time writing serious literary criticism and analysis of some of my favorite works. That was always the original intention of this blog. Unfortunately, time commitments forced me to write a number of short blurbs as opposed to some longer entries. While I had grand plans for the blog at the beginning, the ability to write the type of entries I wanted to write became somewhat limited. Again, this is due to time constraints and other things competing for my priorities. However, I will say this – I plan on being more consistent with this blog in the next few week and restore it to its former glory.
