Mark MacYoung's Violence Geeks

A blog entry on “Violence Geeks” that have an obsessive desire for all things violent would seen to be way off from what this blog generally discusses. Then again, there is a bit of “overflow” from what is discussed in Mark “Animal” MacYoung’s excellent article that covers obsessive desires of all things violent. The reason I wished to mention this particular item is because there is a slight overflow with comic fandom. Namely, people who love comics have a tendency to be obsessed about their reading. No, this does not refer to people who read every book on the shelf. I would consider such a person a completist. An obsessed fan loves comics (OR ANY OTHER HOBBY) at the exclusion of all else. Often, they engage in such behavior – as MacYoung points out – as a coping mechanism to avoid the pain they may be facing in the real world. While most of these people are generally quite harmless, there are those that can be dangerous. These would be the weapons and martial arts obsessed individuals that take their love of violence to dangerous levels. MacYoung’s treatise on this subject is quite fascinating to read and that is why I recommend it so highly. So please visit www.nononsenseselfdefense.com/violence_geeks.htm and explore this fascinating subject by reading the lengthy and though provoking piece.
