Pond Aerators

If you have a pond on your property, you will certainly want the pond to look as best as can be. There are a number of ways to properly maintain the pond and the use of pond aerators would be among the best choices. Contrary to what some assume, pond aerators are not expensive and can be purchased at great prices with the right distributor.

Rob Zombie and Steve Niles Bigfoot

For whatever reason, I felt like looking over my old copies of Rob Zombie and Steve Niles’ BIGFOOT book from a few years back. This is not a bad story but it is pretty straight forward. In many ways, it comes off as a throwback to a very simple early 1980’s narrative with a more adult tone. But, the story drifts in and out into camp humor. Rob has always been someone who is influenced by 1970’s pop culture and Bigfoot was most definitely a “star” in the 1970s like no other. What a shame they didn’t include a picture of Bigfoot on the cover of this month’s PEOPLE MAGAZINE which features the top stars of the 1970’s but I digress….. ====================================================================================================

Stan Lee at Comic Con

So, why am I not at Comic Con this year? The same reason I did not go last year. I can’t afford it. Oh well, even if I did book a trip to Comic Con, I would have had to cancel because my car is in need of $700 worth of repair and the problems didn’t start with the car until 2 days ago. Oh well….I ain’t gonna complain. After all, they are posting a lot of cool YouTube video footage of the event. It is kind of funny because 20 years ago, if there was a Comic Book Convention taking place in a particular city, once it was over it was lost to history unless a little bit of video camcorded footage was made and still exists. And if it does maybe we will see some lost footage turn up on YouTube in the near future?

For now, you can sit back and watch cool footage of the great Stan “The Man” Lee, a legend who is still a part of comicdom long after others would have retired and walked away. And, by the way, I loved his autobiography and anyone who wishes to read a fun memoir, you should check his bio out.

MotorCycle Accidents

Motorcycle accidents are a serious situation. The more serious the accident, the more it can cost in terms of medical expenses, loss of income, and a decline in the quality of one’s life. That is why anyone who has suffered an accident in Pleasanton, CA should look into hiring a Pleasanton motorcycle accident attorney. A qualified attorney understands exactly how to litigate or settle such a case. Having such an attorney in your corner is definitely recommended.

Extra Words on Tales of the Black Lantern

As those regularly reading this blog as of late have probably accurately surmised, I have been on a Green Lantern kick for a while now. The current storyline of the Black Lantern has truly caught my attention because it totally plays to the classic “death is never really death” cliché and turns in on its head. In many ways, this story arc is a lot like the Marvel Zombies limited series storylines with one notable exception: The Black Lantern stories are 100,000 times better. Those even remotely interested in reading a fantastic comic storyline are strongly suggested to check out the utter brilliance DC has come up with in this narrative. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Green Lantern - Looking at a Rebirth

The realm of Green Lantern comics has been the source of excellent writing for well over 15 years. Unfortunately, it took a while to get a lot of readers on board to follow the adventures of Hal Jordan and the rest of the cast of characters in the Green Lantern Corp. The main problem with GL is the same problem many DC Heroes face: they were first created in the Golden Age and the cultural landscape of the time crafted their appearances, powers, and backstory. If Superman were created today, his origin and powers might well be the same but there is NO WAY a modern artist would create a look so 1940’s.

Green Lantern suffers from the same problem since the surface of the character is hokey on many levels. However, rebuilding the character in a modern image is not hard at all. You simply need to make the character more mature and his motivations more complex. For the ardent fan of comics, such characters will draw in their attention rather quickly. However, some of the more casual or newer fans might not be so quick to check out a more traditional character. Traditional characters simply do not attract attention with casual fans because of the more classic look the traditional characters might embody. A new fan will be far more visually attracted to The Punisher because the Punisher looks more modern. (Ironically, the character has been wearing basically the same uniform for 35 years) But, when a major story arc occurs where a traditional character is redefined, people start to take notice. Slowly. Generally, it will take two or three more major story arcs for a traditional character to be followed by all spheres of comic fans and become a top seller.

In many ways, this is what happened with Green Lantern with the excellent REBIRTH storyline. (Then again, it really started with the legendary ending of ZERO HOUR) These days, Green Lantern is one of the top selling DC books due to its amazing storyline. It took a long time, but the true rebirth of Green Lantern is complete.

57Talk.com - Your Wrestling Interview Source

We step away from out usual discussion of comic history to take a look at...wrestling history!

What does pro wrestling have to do with comic books? Not much other than the fact that a lot of comic book fans are also long time fans of professional wrestling. And when I say long time fans, I do mean LONG TIME. I have been watching wrestling on and off since I was 5. The lifestyle in wrestling today is a far cry from the world that existed in the past. The culture of professional wrestling has changed dramatically and what exists today is so far removed from what had existed in prior eras that there is virtually no similarities between the two. However, there is an enormous interest in wrestling nostalgia as more and more people are discovering the wonderful world of classic wrestling. Whether you have access to the excellent WWE 24/7 channel or you simply like watching the old classic bouts that have made their way to YouTube (including rare 8mm films from the 1970s) renewed interest in classic matches has expanded greatly.

There is also a great deal of renewed interest in the glorious history or professional wrestling which was at one time destined to be a lost history. However, thanks to the popularity of various books on the subject or professional wrestling and several interview DVDs, a great deal of the behind the scenes history has been preserved.

This brings us to 57Talk.com which is a tremendous resource for professional wrestling history and interviews. There truly are a number of tremendous interviews airing FOR FREE on this site and many of the interviews run upwards of 90 minutes. Currently, you can listen to stunning interviews with Buck Robely, Tommy Rich, Ricky Morton, The Great Mephisto, and my personal favorite from the early days Superstar Billy Graham. Check the site out and give it a listen. It is well worth it!
